Mike Battaglia

Born and based in Philadelphia, Mike Battaglia bills himself as a Microtonal Explorer. He could just as easily be described as a Microtonal legend, having been a leading voice and talent during the most recent groundswell of interest in Microtonality over the past decade.

Mike has his roots in jazz and was part of multiple scenes in New York and Philly before even discovering microtonality. His approach now feels completely unified; while microtonality can often sound harsh or dissonant, Mike strikes an incredibly tasteful balance, demonstrating a spectacular understanding of the relationships between these lesser known notes.

As one of the first people in history to own a Lumatone — and someone we had tested prototypes with — Mike has bonded with his Lumatone in ways nobody else has.
